The mission of the Alliance Française de Sacramento is to promote the French language and culture and to foster friendships between native French speakers and people living in the Sacramento region. We do this by offering a wide variety of French courses and cultural events throughout the year.

Founded in 2000 as an independent nonprofit organization, the Alliance Française de Sacramento now counts more than 600 members. Our parent organization, the Alliance Française, was created in 1883 in Paris. There are now more than 800 Alliance chapters in 136 countries, including 110 chapters in the United States.

The Alliance Française offers French language courses at all levels for adults and children For adults, we offer beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, special interest classes and private lessons. For children, we offer classes for ages 3 to 11 as well as French summer camp.

The Alliance Française hosts French cultural and social programs throughout the year, including film screenings, lectures, book club meetings, museum visits, francophone cultural events, and conversation groups. Check out the variety of events we have to offer.

The Alliance Française has a large collection of books, comics, movies, music and audio available in our library for our members to borrow. Individually selected, our library materials form a broad reflection of francophone culture throughout the world.

Alliance Française de Sacramento members are a diverse group of native French speakers and people interested in the French language and culture. We invite you to share your love of French with us as a member, volunteer, donor or sponsor.
