In this new Pronunciation workshop, WHOUAAH!! it will be fun to discover filler words and onomatopoeias used in French. On the other hand, do you know when the e is pronounced or becomes an e muet?

Come and join the pronunciation workshops. You will learn about what makes French pronunciation so special and you will practice its main difficulties.

Business and Professional Communication French series offers you to progress in the business world improving your knowledge not only of the language but also of French business practices, documents, and regulations.

It will be specifically orientated to master French in various work/company communication situations. Debates, presentations, practical cases, and role-plays, are all activities undertaken to gain self-confidence in various communicative situations.

It is important to know the French culture but also the company’s culture.

Pronouns: Let’s Get Personal & Possessive

Ever wondered about the difference between “qui,” “que,” and “dont”? Not sure how to say “That one is mine” in French? This workshop is for you. Pronouns are often the missing link between understanding and not understanding, expressing and being unable to express. However, because these are little words that don’t carry much meaning on their own, we tend to overlook them. This workshop will help you sort out these types of words, where they go and what role they play in sentences, and how they can provide big clues into meaning.

Tentative schedule
1. Personal pronouns (subject, tonic, direct object, indirect object)
2. Relative pronouns
3. Variable interrogative pronouns
4. Possessive pronouns
5. Demonstrative pronouns + synthesis

France/Amérique: Regards croisés

Every other Wednesday 2:30pm > 4:00pm

January 13-March 10, 2021

Interested in how France looks from across the Atlantic and vice-versa? Through the travel writings of five contemporary francophone authors, this reading and discussion series will explore the particularities of French and American culture as filtered through foreign eyes. An opportunity as well to reflect and converse about living abroad and struggling with the language and customs of different countries.

Discussion will be based on guided in-class readings of short passages, so no prior reading is required to participate. Longer extracts and comprehension questions will be posted in advance on the course page for those who wish to familiarize themselves more with the texts and discussion topics.

A course designed for literature lovers interested in discovering contemporary culture through the prism of travel, while reading and discussing texts in their original French language.

Open to students with B2+ level of French or higher.

IMPROVE YOUR FRENCH THROUGH READING

Mondays, 5pm-7pm

Discover how to improve your French through reading. Can you relate to this? You read things in French, meticulously writing down every word you don’t know and looking it up until you’ve (mostly) made sense of the text. You spend hours doing this, yet your French does not improve. This workshop is designed to remedy that situation! You’ll learn different strategies, play games, and do different creative activities with short, fun texts, all with the goal of increasing your uptake of French. By the end, you’ll be able to implement the techniques you’ve learned on your own.
