Meet our new Executive Director, Frédérique Lamort

Bonjour members, students, donors, and friends:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to share the news that Frédérique Lamort has been named Executive Director of the Alliance Française de Sacramento.  I am confident that Frédérique’s teaching experience, organizational skills, and deep history with our Alliance will allow us to continue to thrive, even during these challenging times.

I’d like to extend a grand merci to outgoing Executive Director Candice Harrington for all her accomplishments over the last four years – and especially for leading our dedicated team as we moved our classes and events online due to the coronavirus pandemic. We wish Candice bon vent in her new adventures!

Frédérique may be a familiar face to many of you. She was one of the founders of our Alliance, teaching students for several years and serving as Assistant School Director under our first Executive Director, Béatrice Hildebrand. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Alliance Française de Sacramento, we have come full circle in naming Frédérique as our next director.

A native of Brussels, Belgium, Frédérique earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the Haute Ecole de Bruxelles and a specialization in Français Langue Étrangère. She moved to California in 1999, where she helped create our Alliance Française chapter with Béatrice and a group of enthusiastic volunteers. In 2012 she moved to the U.K., where she worked in project management for a French engineering company. Frédérique returned to Sacramento in 2016 and started a consulting company for small businesses.

In addition to sharing her love of the French language and culture, Frédérique is a fan of jazz, classical music, art, literature, and history, and enjoys traveling with her partner and his three daughters.

“It’s such a pleasure to be back at the Alliance Française de Sacramento,” Frédérique says. “Learning French is not only good for your brain, c’est aussi aller à la rencontre de l’autre, d’une autre culture et changer notre regard sur le monde. With our exceptional team, I want to make sure learning French is fun, and that this vibrant cultural organization is the perfect place to share our love for the French culture and language.”

Please join me in offering félicitations and bon retour to Frédérique!

Bien à vous,

Kristin Rapinac
President, Alliance Française de Sacramento
