Please join us Friday, July 8; 7:00pm-10:00pm, in-person for the Alliance Française de Sacramento’s next Soirée Cinéma event in our library / screening room. Our July 2022 film is 35 Shots of Rum (35 rhums) by Claire Denis. We start promptly at 7:00pm

We will start with a short presentation about the film, watch the film, and then open it up for a lively guided discussion in English.

Film description: 
The relationship between a father and daughter is complicated by the arrival of a handsome young man.

Lionel (Alex Descas), a widower, has raised his daughter, Josephine (Mati Diop), on his own since she was young. The two are used to living alone, dependent solely on one another. But, now that Josephine is in college, Lionel is beginning to realize they cannot stay isolated forever. Lionel reluctantly accepts the fact that his daughter has grown up and will one day leave him, when their neighbor Noe (Grégoire Colin) makes his long-harbored feelings for Josephine known.
