A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Don was educated at Cornell University and UC Berkeley. He and his wife Diane live in Folsom, California and have four daughters and six grandchildren. Now retired, Don finished his career in commercial and residential sales for Aztec Solar. Prior to that, he served as the CFO and COO for Safety Center Incorporated, a Sacramento-based non-profit. Before moving to Sacramento in 1997, he owned a small business in Nevada City and worked as a product manager for Levi Strauss & Co. where began his career in the 1970’s. After studying French in high school and spending part of a summer during college riding around France on a motorcycle, Don joined Alliance Française Sacramento in 2015 to resume his French studies. He has served on its’s board of directors since 2018. In addition to studying French, Don enjoys golf, swimming, traveling, and researching his medieval ancestry. And of course trying to keep up with the grandchildren.
Benigno Salazar (Bio to come)
I have had the honor of serving on the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française de Sacramento since 2011, the last few years as second vice-president. During that time, the board has guided the AF through many changes in its growth and development, including the move to the Clara Center for the Arts, the hiring of new executive directors, and sponsoring a number of fundraising events. Most recently we have navigated the pandemic to create an online presence that has continued to share French culture and language education with an even larger community. My background includes work as a teacher, trainer, and personnel management consultant. My volunteer work has included event planning with a number of non-profits, tutoring children and working in a food closet. I have been taking French classes and volunteering at the AF since retiring from the State in 2008. I continue to love attending my French classes and learning about French Culture. If elected, I will continue to dedicate my time and effort to helping AF de Sacramento thrive and grow.
